More Information
The Speed Test basically does exactly what it says. It tests the speed of your Broadband Internet Connection. It does this by performing a number of tests which allows it to determine how your connection is operating. The tests include Pings to servers, download speeds and Trace routes. In addition to this, the Speed Test generates a diagnostic report containing information about your connection along with your speeds which can be used to send to your ISP in times of poor performance. The ISP blueyonder already recommends to customers that this is how they present diagnostic information to them.
To add to this, the tester works under any Windows operating system (including the new Windows XP), although versions for other operating systems are being considered and may be available shortly.
Why did I make the test?
I made the test through shear frustration that no fully working diagnostic report producing Speed Test existed on the market for UK users. Any speed testers that did actually work were almost always America-based and therefore would not produce accurate reports for UK users. This speed test has been fine-tuned to work with the three major UK broadband providers (as shown top-right).
Who am I? Do I work for an ISP?
I'm Daniel Elwell, I'm currently studying for my A Levels and don't work for an ISP. Although I am not strictly linked with blueyonder (or any other ISP), you are more than welcome to send me an e-mail requesting help and assistance. My e-mail address (and MSN Msgr) can be found on the feedback page.
